Enola Holmes Movie Review
Enola Holmes is the fictional character created by Nancy, the sister of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. Enola also has another brother Mycroft Holmes. Enola grows up with her mother who teaches her everything from chess to jujitsu. Her mother Eudoria, teaches her to be an independent woman and defy all the societal norms that were defined only for the women. Thus Enola grows to be an intelligent, straightforward, insightful, and most importantly a strong lady. However, one-day Eudoria disappears from her home without leaving any clue. Enola travels to London. to find her missing mom where she faces unexpected adventures from different directions. She also seeks help from her brothers but she realizes that being alone is better than being with her brothers because her name when spelled in reverse becomes ‘alone’.
The movie received many appreciations and Millie Brown got wholesome applause for her performance in the movie. The entire Stranger Things cast got offers in many movies and shows but Millie Bobby Brown not only just accepted the offers but she also created many opportunities by producing a movie. Yes, Elona Holmes is co-produced by Millie Bobby Brown hence this was one of the major decisions in her career. Enola Holmes also faced a lawsuit where Conan Doyle’s Estate accused the team for making Sherlock Holmes an emotional person in the movie. Since Conan Doyle is the creator of the character Sherlock, they argued that showing the emotional side of Sherlock Holmes affects his whole character because in the British TV show ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is completely practical.
The movie was successful in reaching many households only because people were curious to know about Sherlock Holmes as a family person. There is no interesting investigation in the movie. It is just a series of unusual events. While trying to showcase Enola as smart, and independent they have spoiled many normalcies that were built around Sherlock. For example, Sherlock appears not-so-smart, and Mycroft acts like a jerk and looks stupid. Fans claimed that making Enola a tomboy implies that girls who can embroid, cook, or wear a hat are totally dumb. Being not-so-girlish is not the definition of a women’s strength, women are strong even after having all the beautiful appearances which are shown as disguised in the movie.

Enola Holmes 2 has completed the shooting but the premiere date is not yet announced. Hope the makers took care of the minor flaws that occur in the first movie.
The movie is recommended to watch with 12+. But parents should know that there is a lot of violence, fighting, blood, gunshots, and blasts in the movie. There is also jumping from the train so before watching with your kids, it is better to know all these potential alerts.
