Today I’m going to talk about one of the wonderful TV show. It belongs to comedy drama categories but the takeaway from this show is something inspiring.
Name of the show is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a story of a housewife who became a famous stand-up comedian.
Two seasons of this show are currently available on Amazon Prime video. When the first season was released it got huge appreciation from people all around the world.
I started watching this series because it is created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator of Gilmore Girls. Her stories are fun, characters are full of life and at the end of the show, there will be a lot to take away.
This woman created the history by banging Emmy awards for her comedy writing & directing in 2018. No wonder! She is too good at her job.
Coming to The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel….
Set in 1950s show highlights how women were treated in the world full of male dominants. Sadly nothing much has changed today and we still can relate to most part of the show.
Midge marries the love of her life in front of her parents, family, and friends.
When you look at her life after four years, she is one happy wife with 2 kids and a perfect husband. She is multitasking!
Her Husband wants to be a stand-up comedian.
She supports him! She maintains her figure and tries to be perfect.
Life is perfect so far…
But one night, her husband leaves her for no reason. The time spent with him becomes memories in one second. She was devastated.
That night changes her life forever!
She goes to the club where her husband used to perform his stand-up act and presents herself on the stage.
Mrs. Maisel is natural! She doesn’t need a script to perform. She makes people laugh and wins their hearts.
The story doesn’t end here. This is the beginning.
Mrs. Maisel comes from a hypocritical family who blames her for the broken marriage. Her husband had another affair and left her for her no reason. But everyone advised her with a lot of tips to make things better. That was irony!
Everyone shows sympathy towards her and ask ‘What are you going to do with your life’ as if like she never had any life without her husband.
They advise her to find another partner because she can’t handle her life alone!
When she talks about becoming a standup comedian they won’t take her seriously because they think that field is not for women.
Widge(Mrs.Maisel) ignores them and step into the world of stand-up comedy. Usage of the foul language in her performance makes Wedge to step into the court. Mrs.Maisel used the same words which were used by the men but the world was not ready to listen to them from a woman!
But she fights for it and finds her life!
